Its homeland is North Anatolia and South Caucasus.
Cherries are grown all across Turkey; cherry farming is a rapidly growing agricultural activity as a main source of livelihood especially in recent years in Isparta, Afyon, Manisa, Bursa and Izmir.
The fruit is eaten fresh. Compote, jam and corned. The most effective and important part of the cherry tree is the fruit stems. Cherry and even cherry fruits are eaten while the stems are not thrown and dried in a shadowy and airy place; cleans the kidneys and urinary tract.
It is a strong painkiller. Because it contains anthocyanin substance, it has a high analgesic effect. Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar.
